Please find attached the call for abstracts and papers for the 34th Annual International Conference on Thermoelectrics (ICT 2015) and 13th European Conference on Thermoelectrics (ECT 2015).

The second circular contains information regarding invited talks and proceedings.

Please note that it is possible to submit abstracts before registration in case acceptance letters for visa applications are required. It is possible to update submitted abstracts. Please send your abstracts toICT2015@cpfs.mpg.de.

Call for the 2015 ITS Graduate Student Travel Grant Applications

The International Thermoelectric Society (ITS) Conference Travel Grant is intended to assist graduate students to participate at the annual International Conference on Thermoelectrics (ICT).  As part of our commitment to advancing research and training, the ITS will provides funding for 14 awards to graduate students.  Each award will carry a cash prize of US $500.

Call for Candidates to the 2015 Annual Outstanding Achievement in Thermoelectrics Award

The International Thermoelectric Society (ITS) announces the 2015 Outstanding Achievement in Thermoelectrics Award to recognize the outstanding achievements of a senior scientist for her/his contribution to the field of thermoelectricty. The award carries a cash prize of two thousand US dollars ($2000), honorary membership in the ITS and a Descriptive Certificate that will be presented at the Banquet of the 34th International Conference on Thermoelectrics (ICT 2015), in Dresden, Germany.  The award is co-sponsored by Komatsu Ltd.

Call for Candidates to the 2015 Annual Young Investigator Award

The International Thermoelectric Society (ITS) announces the 2015 ITS Young Investigator Award for Excellence in Research in Thermoelectrics by a young investigator holds a researcher/engineer position in either: academia, industry, government lab or scientific institute (e.g. The Max Planck Institute).  This award is to be given to a young researcher who has exhibited a record of excellent original work and significant results in the field of thermoelectrics or thermoelectric materials.  The recipient should have shown significant research in the early stages of his/her career.

Call for Candidates to the 2015 Annual Goldsmid Award & Graduate Student Awards

The International Thermoelectric Society (ITS) announces the 2015 Goldsmid Award for Excellence in Research in Thermoelectrics by a Graduate Student.

The award is sponsored by Marlow Industries, Inc. and carries a cash prize of one thousand dollars ($1000) and a Descriptive Certificate that will be presented at the Banquet of the 34th International Conference on Thermoelectrics (ICT 2015), in Dresden, Germany.

RTG Powered 'New Horizons' Prepares for Encounter with Pluto

New Horizons, NASA's radioistopte thermoelectic generator (RTG) powered mission to Pluto and the Kupier Belt, was awakened from hibernation mode last month in preparation for encountering the Pluto system with closest approach July 14, 2015. Here's the latest news from the Johns Hopkin's Applied Laboratory on this historic mission.

The closest approach to Pluto will occur just two weeks after the 2015 International Conference on Thermoelectrics (ICT & ECT 2015) to be held in Dresden, Germany.

2015 ITS Board Nominations

Four (4) International Thermoelectric Society (ITS) Board Member positions will be opened for election at the coming International Conference on Thermoelectricity, to be held in Dresden, Germany, June 28 – July 2, 2015.

The ITS Nomination and Election Committee invites you to nominate your candidate(s) by clicking here.

The Committee will make every effort to attract candidates from a variety of geographic, technical fields, and institutions, to best serve the Mission of the International Thermoelectric Society. The list of current Board Directors can be found here.

Board Directors are elected for a three-years term and are expected to play an active role in the International Thermoelectric Society business and promotion. The major goals (objectives) of the Society, as stated in the ITS Bylaws, are:

  • TO PROMOTE an understanding of the role thermoelectric technology may play in environmental impact and mitigating global climate change;
  • TO PROMOTE the advancement of the thermoelectric industry, science and engineering;
  • TO PROMOTE collection and exchange of information and education which will benefit the thermoelectric community;
  • TO PROMOTE systemization of measurements of transport parameters and TE devices.
  • TO PROMOTE awareness of the larger community to thermoelectric issues and solicit wider involvement;
  • TO PROMOTE various forums of exchange of information and achievements:
  • TO PROMOTE a mechanism for coordinating and promoting conferences;

Nominees will be posted on the ITS web site at (http://www.its.org) shortly after.

The election of the new MemberITS Board  will be organized at the Conference in Dresden, Germany and further details will be announced at the beginning of the conference by the ITS President and the ITS Nomination and Election Committee.
