Call for Nominations for the 2019 ITS Postdoctoral Scholar Award

The International Thermoelectric Society (ITS) announces the ITS Postdoctoral Scholar in Thermoelectrics Award to recognize outstanding achievement in scholarship in the field of thermoelectricity. The award carries a cash prize of two thousand US dollars ($2000), honorary membership in the ITS, and a Descriptive Certificate that will be presented at the 38th International Conference on Thermoelectrics (ICT 2019), in Gyeongju, South Korea.   

The award shall normally be bestowed upon a single recipient.

Call for Candidates for the 2018 ITS ‘Outstanding Achievement in Thermoelectrics’ Award

The International Thermoelectric Society (ITS) announces the 2018 ITS Outstanding Achievement in Thermoelectrics Award to recognize outstanding achievement in scholarship and service to the thermoelectric community. The award carries a cash prize of two thousand US dollars ($2000), honorary membership in the ITS, and a Descriptive Certificate that will be presented at the 37th International Conference on Thermoelectrics (ICT 2018), in Caen, France.  The award is co-sponsored by KELK and the ITS and supported by the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids.

Applications solicited for 2018 ITS Awards: Travel and Postdoc applications particularly encouraged.

Deadlines are very near for the various 2018 International Thermoelectric Society Awards, but there is still time to get your applications in. Applications for the Graduate Student Registration Waivers and the Postdoctoral Scholar Awards are particularly encouraged as few applications have yet been received.

Call for Nominations for 2018 Goldsmid and Graduate Student Awards

The International Thermoelectric Society (ITS) announces the 2018 Goldsmid Award for Excellence in Research in Thermoelectrics by a Graduate Student.

The award is sponsored by Marlow, Inc., and carries a cash prize of one thousand dollars ($1000) and a Descriptive Certificate that will be presented at the Banquet of the 37th International Conference on Thermoelectrics (ICT 2018), in Caen, France.

In addition, the 2018 Award will include a US$1000 contribution to the awardee to cover travel and fees for attending ICT 2018, July 1 – 5, 2018 in Caen, France.

Call for Candidates to the 2018 Annual Young Investigator Award

The International Thermoelectric Society (ITS) announces the 2018 ITS Young Investigator Award for Excellence in Research in Thermoelectrics by a young investigator who holds a researcher/engineer position in either: academia, industry, government lab or scientific institute (e.g. The Max Planck Institute).  This award is to be given to a young researcher who has exhibited a record of excellent original work and significant results in the field of thermoelectrics or thermoelectric materials.  The recipient should have shown significant research in the early stages of his/her career.

Summer Fellowship Award of the International Thermoelectric Society (ITS Summer Fellowship)

Purpose

To assist a graduate student in the pursuit of research during the summer (May – August) in a field of interest to the ITS.

 The Award

The award shall be known as the ITS Fellowship and will consist of funds in the amount of US $5,000 for the summer months of study at an institution different from the awardee’s home institution.

Graduate Student Conference Registration Waivers for ICT 2018

The International Thermoelectric Society (ITS) Conference Registration Waiver is intended to assist graduate students to participate at the annual International Conference on Thermoelectrics (ICT).  As part of our commitment to advancing research and training, the ITS will provide funding for up to 14 registration waivers for students to attend ICT 2018 in Caen, France.

ITS Announces 2017 Outstanding Achievement, Young Investigator Awards

The ITS Board of Directors announces that Professor Ctirad Uher, University of Michigan, USA, has been selected as the recipient of the 2017 Outstanding Achievement in Thermoelectrics Award. The award recognizes outstanding scholarship in and service to the thermoelectric community.  The award is co-sponsored by ITS and KELK Ltd and supported by the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Physics of Solids.

2017 ITS Goldsmid and Graduate Student Awards Announced

The ITS Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Jiawei Zhang, Aarhus University, Denmark, is the winner of the 2017 Goldsmid Award for excellence in research in thermoelectricity by a graduate student. The award is co-sponsored by ITS and Marlow Industries.

The Board also announces two winners of the Graduate Student Awards: Zhiwei Chen (Tongji University, China) and Stephen Kang (Northwestern University, USA). The awards are sponsored by ITS.
