2010 International Thermoelectric Society Best Scientific and Application Paper AwardsSubmitted by thierry.caillat on Tue, 2010-03-30 21:23
The International Thermoelectric Society (ITS) will sponsor a Best Scientific and a Best Application Papers awards at the 29th International Conference on Thermoelectrics. Each award carries a five hundred dollars (US$500) cash prize and will be presented at the Banquet at the 29th International Conference on Thermoelectrics (ICT2010) in Shanghai, China.
With the exception of invited papers, the Best ‘Scientific’ and ‘Application’ Papers will be selected among all manuscripts submitted by May 1st, 2010 athttp://ict2010.its.org/manuscripts. Manuscripts submitted later will not be considered for these awards. Awards are based primarily on the scientific merit, originality, and clarity of the manuscripts.
Any questions related to the ITS awards may be addressed to the ITS President, Dr. Thierry Caillat, preferably by e-mail at itspresident@its.org.

JobsSenior Thermoelectric Module/Device EngineerSubmitted by JudyLee on Tue, 2010-03-09 The successful applicant will play a lead role in the development of thermoelectric module assembly processes at a small-scale production level. The key functions of this position are thermoelectric device design, fabrication, and experimental demonstration. Candidates should have hands-on experience in the design and implementation of thermoelectric device structures and fabrication processes in a production environment. Both cooling and power generation module design experience desired with specific knowledge of device aspects including metallization of electrical contacts, module manufacturing and bonding, electrical circuit design, and test methodology. Strong understanding of thermoelectric theory, thermal-mechanical design, and manufacturing considerations are a strong plus. Requirements: a BS or MS in relevant engineering fields with 5-10 years of experience is required. We will consider BS candidates who possess unique and extensive device implementation experience. Candidates with extensive metallization and joining techniques in a production level environment are highly desirable. GMZ Energy was founded in 2007 with the mission to rapidly commercialize nano-engineered materials, a building block for a new generation of solid-state energy-efficient products. The founding team and investors recognized the unique opportunity to leverage a game-changing shift in technology capability, with new market dynamics that will force adoption of alternative approaches to power generation, and replacement of products that generate green house gases. GMZ is supported by investments from Kleiner Perkins, Silicon Valley Bank, and a top 5 Fortune 500 global energy provider. Qualified applicants should apply at recruiting@gmzenergy.com for immediate consideration.
