ITSnews is an aperiodic publication on thermoelectrics.
Lately more aperiodic than usual, if that's possible

ICT 2011 Attendees,
Take advantage of lower registrations rates. The deadline for early registration for the conference is May 1, 2011. Also, Traverse City is very busy in the summer so you are urged to make your plans for travel and accomodation as soon as possible.
Please see the conference website for details: www.ict2011.its.org
See you in Traverse City!

Two International Thermoelectric Society (ITS) Board Director positions will be opened for election at the 30th International Conference on Thermoelectrics, to be held in Traverse City, Michigan, USA, July 17th-21st, 2011.
The ITS Nomination and Election Committee invites you to nominate your candidate(s) (self-nominations are also welcomed) by clicking here. (*ITS Nomination and Election Committee discourages multiple representations from the same institute/university.)
The Committee will make every effort to attract candidates from a variety of geographic, technical fields, and institutions, to best serve the Mission of the International Thermoelectric Society. The list of current Board Directors can be found here.
Please use the link on this website to submit your nominations. Nominations will be accepted until May31st, 2011. Short biographies and information about the Nominees will be posted on the ITS web site at (http://www.its.org) shortly after.

My client in Raleigh, North Carolina has retained me to search in the field of thermoelectic devices (expected to dramatically improve the efficiency of heat-to-electric energy conversion). They just closed a Series B financing round of $10M and are in transition from R&D stage to module fabrication and production. The client has previously won a $3M grant from ARPA-E.
Thermal Design Engineer
My client is looking for a self-motivated, hands-on, engineer to play a lead role in the design and development of cooling systems utilizing thermoelectric devices. This position will focus on packaging, heat transfer design, development of experiments, validation of experimental results, optimization of the thermal performance and reliability analysis.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop thermal and refrigeration systems.
- Work with diverse team to meet product and design constraints.
- Transform system design concepts to prototypes.
- Assemble and test prototypes.
- Generate innovative options for thermal management challenges.
Qualifications
- MS or Ph.D in relevant engineering fields with 5-10 years of experience is preferred.
- Specific knowledge of thermal-mechanical design, heatsink design, and cooling fan selection
- Experience with ANSYS or similar thermal simulation software
- Knowledge of electronics cooling and packaging
- Hands-on experience in the design of cooling systems using thermoelectric modules is preferred
- Support customer interactions to demonstrate system performance
- Strong communications skills and project management expertise.
