Post-Doctoral Research Associate - Solid-State Chemistry

Heriot-Watt University - School of Engineering and Physical Sciences and Centre for Advanced Energy Storage and Recovery (CAESAR)

Salary: £28,983 - £35,646

A vacancy exists for a post-doctoral research associate in the group of Prof. A.V. Powell and Dr P Vaqueiro. The project involves the synthesis and characterisation of new thermoelectric materials. Work will be principally directed towards new intermetallic phases, primarily complex antimonides.

The project is supported through the EPSRC's Low Carbon Vehicles initiative and will be carried out in collaboration with the Department of Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering, Loughborough University and the School of Engineering, Cardiff University.

Applicants should already be in possession of a PhD and a background in solid-state chemistry or materials science is essential. Experience of physical property measurements would be an advantage.

The position is available from 1 September 2010 for a period of 15 months.
