Elections: 2004 ITS Board Candidates

From: The International Thermoelectric Society Nomination and Election Committee

Elections will be held during the ICT2004 in Adelaide, Australia to fill vacancies on the ITS Board of Directors. For those elected, the term is for three years and will start immediately after the conference in Adelaide.

The following six candidates have been nominated serve as a Directors on the International Thermoelectric Society Board.

Lev Bulat, Head of El. Eng. Dept., St. Petersburg State University of Refrigeration, Russia

George Nolas, Department of Physics, University of South Florida, USA

Ryoji Funahashi, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science & Technology, Japan

Hiromasa Kaibe, Chief Researcher at Komatsu. Ltd, Japan

Hubert Scherrer, 1st class Professor at the Henri Poincaré- Nancy1 University, France


Board Directors play an active and determinant role in the Society business and promotion. The major goals (objectives) of the Society, as stated in the ITS Constitution, are to:


  • PROMOTE the advancement of the thermoelectric industry, science and engineering;

  • PROMOTE collection and exchange of information and education that will benefit the thermoelectric community;

  • PROMOTE systemization of measurements to and in comparison of materials and devices;

  • PROMOTE awareness of the larger community to thermoelectric issues and solicit wider involvement;

  • PROMOTE a forum of exchange of information and achievements. -Newsletters;

  • PROMOTE a mechanism for coordinating and promoting conferences.
