At the ICT2000 in Cardiff, I presented a paper related with the enhancement of the yield of high quility ingots in the zone melting growth of p-type bismuth telluride-based alloys. Currently I have submitted the manuscript containing the idea of that paper for a patent.
When the growth speed of zone melting is slow to get a high quility p-type ingot (figure of merit higher than 3.3x10-3/K), high quility is obtained within limited portion of an ingot. By applying the new idea, however, high quility can be obtained over most part of an ingot.
