The Department of Physics and Astronomy of Clemson University invites applications for a tenure track position anticipated to begin in the academic year 2005-2006. The search will emphasize candidates in experimental Condensed Matter/Materials Physics. This person will be part of an expansion of our program in the investigation of the Next Generation Thermoelectric Materials. We are looking for someone who has extensive expertise in bulk materials synthesis and is willing to work as part of a team. Extensive facilities for electrical & thermal transport measurements, spectroscopic and materials characterization are already in place. Our expectation is that the position will be filled at the assistant professor level, but the search is not restricted to this rank. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in materials related physics or a related materials field. Additional requirements include postdoctoral or equivalent experience as well as a good command of the English language and communication skills. They should have a keen interest in teaching both undergraduate and graduate level courses. The successful candidate will be expected to seek and obtain outside research support and establish a solid research program.
