+- Happy Solstice!

Each year around now I hear from people around the world I've had the
good fortune to meet through the thermoelectric community. It can be no
coincidence that nearly all cultures have celebrated this time of year
since ancient times, exchanging tokens of appreciation and spending time
with family and friends. It is right and good that we do so, putting
aside for a time the stresses of the world about us. I've never been
terribly good at reciprocating to all these well-wishers so let me take
this opportunity to wish one and all a most Happy Solstice and a
prosperous New Year!

For the curious, this solstice (winter for those of us in the northern
hemisphere, and summer for my friends down under) occurs at:

December 22, 2006 at 00:20 UTC

Make it last as long as you can!

+- Proceedings from 2006 ICT in Vienna: current status

Dear Attendees of the International Conference on Thermoelectrics 2006,
and those ordering ICT'06 printed books --

We are behind the original schedule for producing the CD-ROM and book
from ICT 2006 in Vienna because of some issues with getting several of
the final papers. However, I can report that the CD-ROM is finished and
has been delivered to me, and the books are being printed early next week.

So, the new schedule is as follows:

FOR THOSE ATTENDEES WHO DID NOT ORDER A PRINTED BOOK:

Your CD-ROM should be shipped by about December 22nd and should arrive
about a week later (at the end of December or early in January). These
will be going to those who did NOT purchase the printed book.

FOR THOSE ORDERING THE PRINTED BOOK:

These should be shipped on about December 28th, with the accompanying
CD-ROM, to arrive during the second week of January.

We appreciate your patience. Please email me if there are questions or
clarifications that I can answer.

+- Selected 2007-8 Conference Updates

Here are some recent updates for upcoming conferences with
thermoelectric content.

The ITS Board has accepted a proposal from Dr. David Johnson to organize
ICT2008, to be held in Corvalis, Oregon USA August 3-7, 2008. Further
details will be posted here as they become available.

Oleg Luste reminds us the XIIth International Forum on Thermoelectricity
will be held July 16-19, 2007 in Chernivtsi, Ukraine.

A website is now available for ECT2007 to be held in Odessa, Ukraine
Sept. 10-12, 2007:

A number of new features are now available on the ITS website. Most of
these new features require you to login, and some require you to be an
ITS Member.

1. ITS Board Member List.
A current list of ITS Board Members has been added and you may use the
website to contact them.

2. ITS Members may now view your records online:
Attendees of ICT2005 & ICT2006 are automatically ITS members and may
login with your email address. If this is your first time, request a
password to be sent to you. Then you may login and update your Online
Directory information.

By default your 'username' is your email address. For better privacy, I
recommend you change your username to something distinct from you email
address, particularly if you ever wish to post a comment on the website.
