ZTjobs  (Two new postings this time.  See link for past postings.)

The upcoming ICT2009/ECT2009 is soon upon us.  It is an excelellent opportunity to meet prospective employers and emplyees.  Below are two timely announcements in this regard.

Dress nice.  I didn't, and I can tell you it helps.  Don't be shy.

Postdoc on Thermoelectric Materials Development

The Laboratory of Solid State Chemistry at Empa
www.empa.ch/plugin/template/empa/*/35380/---/l=1 is developing
perovskite-type compounds and nanostructured composites for potential applications as functional materials in renewable energy- and environmental technologies. Applied methods are chimie douce techniques for nanostructured materials production, XRD, ND, EXAFS and TEM for the structural characterisation of new materials. XRF, ICP-OES, TGA with coupled mass spectrometry and TEM, SEM/EDX for the chemical and morphological characterisation.

For our project on thermoelectric materials we seek to recruit a

Postdoc on Thermoelectric Materials Development

The position is immediately available for a candidate (m/f) with a PhD in Chemistry, Physics or Materials Sciences (or related).

The project is focussed on the development of novel thermoelectric materials, and characterisation techniques of thermoelectric materials.

The ideal candidate is a communicative scientist with a strong background in chemistry and/or physical sciences .He/she has experience on the synthesis of inorganic solids and their characterisation.

Experience with thermoelectrics would be beneficial.

For further information, please contact anke weidenkaff empa ch.

Please send your application with CV, your research interests, a list of publications and the names of two academic referees to:

Postdoctoral or research engineer position open at ICG Montpellier

The team «Materials synthesis for thermoelectrics» , located in the University of Montpellier 2 (University Montpellier South of France), is involved in the synthesis, and micro-structural characterization of thermoelectric materials useful for energy conversion from waste heat recovery. Measurement of the transport properties (electrical resistivity, thermoelectric power) is performed too.

In the frame of a national project, in collaboration with International automotive companies, we are looking for a post-doc or a research engineer. The activities will be mainly focused on the synthesis and measurement performed at hight temperature, and analysis of the thermal properties of materials.

The candidate should possess a solid background in solid state chemistry, with strong aptitude to experimentation. He or she should also have good bases in solid state physics.

The position is for twelve months initially. It can be eventually extended to six other months. Applicants should send a cover letter stating their interest in applying to this position, a CV and one letter of reference. These documents should be sent to prof. Jean-Claude Tedenac (e-mail: dauscher mines inpl-nancy fr) The position will be open since October.
