    Dear Colleagues,

Marat Vedernikov left us on August 11 of 2011, when he was 80 years old.

For many years he was the head of the laboratory for physics of thermoelements of Ioffe Physical-technical Institute.

    Let him be remembered forever.

        -  Mikhail I Fedorov

Marat Vedernikov at ICT1995 in St. Petersburg, Russia

Mikhail Fedorov has informed us of the passing of Marat Vedernikov.  Marat was one of the founders of the International Thermoelectric Society, organizer of ICT1995 in St. Petersburg, Russia and a tireless contributor to thermoelectricity.  I would particularly note his contributions to the thermoelectic properties of transition metals.  He was a scholar, a gentleman, and a lover of art and culture.  I am proud to have had the opportunity to call him friend.

The ITS website has been updated and moved to better server hardware.  I expect some things on the site have been broken in the move/update.  If you notice any problems with the website, we'd appreciate letting the Webmaster know using this link.

    Thanks!
